The Health Experience Research Group at the University of Oxford has created a unique database of personal and patient experiences through in-depth qualitative research into over 50 different illnesses and health conditions.

“The results of our research are published on two websites – www.healthtalkonline.org and www.youthhealthtalk.org which are aimed at patients, their carers, family and friends, doctors, nurses and other health professionals.”

The Knowledge Network for Chronic Pain Management is a central portal for national and local information about Pain Services in Scotland.

The Knowledge Network provides evidence, information, e-learning and community tools.  Its Evidence into Practice portal helps clinicians and quality leads to access and apply evidence, and collaborate to improve quality of care.

Pain Management Health Home (WebMD)

Pain management is important for ongoing pain control, especially if you suffer with long-term or chronic pain. After getting a pain assessment, your doctor can prescribe pain medicine or other pain treatments to help you get pain relief. Sometimes psychotherapy is also useful in learning new coping skills to help with chronic pain.

Pain for Philosophers

This is a blog by Adam Swenson - Assistant Professor of Philosophy at California State University, Northridge.

He is unique in combining a thorough knowledge of the various aspects of pain including research with an understanding of human predicament delivering incisive , thought–provoking comments.

He is “particularly keen on studies concerning the relationships between gender and pain; the role of depression, anxiety, and other affective disorders in pain; and the ways caregivers' attitudes influence their patients' pain and recovery.”

Pain-Talk

Pain-talk is run by, and for, Healthcare Professionals on a 'not-for-profit' basis, and provides an on-line discussion forum for individuals to share their experiences (good or bad!), ask questions, request help etc. etc.

Pain-talk aims to fill a gap in our current support, information gathering, and information sharing networks. It features lead articles written by those working within Pain Management and provides links to some of the best pain related Internet sites
